God
Forms Grace Fellowship
|
On February 12, 1994 a group of believers met at the Peet
Freight office to discuss the possibility of beginning a
new congregation of believers in Woodstock. That night exactly
10 families committed to the call to begin a new work for
the purpose of encouraging and equipping the saints to do
the work of the ministry in reaching the lost.
The Farm Bureau building was rented for the 1st service,
Sunday evening, February 20th, 1994. We voted that evening
to pursue renting space in a building on McHenry Ave. across
from Marion Central. The service February 27th was held
in that building. We voted February 27th to call our congregation
of believers "Grace Fellowship."
Easter Sunday April 3, 1994 was our first morning service.

| God continued to bless our congregation and led us to a
larger facility where we began meeting in June 4, 1994. We
remained in the D.B. Hess building on McConnell Rd. for several
years as God continued to grow our congregation. During those
years we looked at different properties to purchase. On April
28, 2001 we closed on the purchase of almost 5 acres of land
on Cairns Ct. With a lot of work done by contractors, as well
as people in the church we were ready to move into the renovated
building on July 22, 2001. |
The logo of Grace Fellowship Church was
chosen to symbolize what we feel is the purpose of the local
church:
To Evangelize -- To go into the world, the community
of Woodstock, and share the Gospel with the lost. To evangelize
the lost to salvation.
To Establish -- To teach or train believers to be obedient
and establish a firm footing in their faith.
To Equip -- To prepare God's people for works of service,
and to bring them to a place of spiritual Maturity and fruitfulness.
To help believers grow from infants, into mature Christians,
and into Him, who is the Head, Christ.
To Export -- To send our body out into the world, whether
at home or abroad, to share the gospel and to be a light wherever
God places us. |
